First Entry

Trying to figure out what to write in my first entry is a lot like trying to write the first line of a new story. I guess that's what you can consider this... a new story. One that's never been read before because it hasn't been written yet.

Tonight I made a novel notebook. This is to keep track of my ideas, things I learn about writing and whatever else I decide to write about. I only have one rule: I cannot under any circumstances rip a page out. If you only knew how much this slays me.

It's really hard to consider myself a novice since I've been "writing" (and trust me, I use that term lightly) for almost 13 years now. But the fact is I'm learning, and I still have so much more to learn.

Most of these entries will be one of five types of posts:
-Novel Notes (notes about the story I'm writing)
-Weekly Planner (notes about what I'm studying or planning to study)
-Do's and Don'ts (things I learn by studying the craft)
-Book Talk (discussion about (fiction) books I'm reading and their authors)
-Journaling (thoughts about myself as a writer)

I'm caught deciding between four possible novels. Two are based on short stories I've written, one is a murder mystery (which I have no business considering because I know nothing about the genre) and the last is loosely based on real-life events.

I feel most passionate about the short titled, Until We Meet Again partly because it's the best story I've ever written and second, because I'm confident I can make a good story into a great one.

Later on I'm going to work on some character sketches and hopefully have something I can start working on.
